- It is the largest city in the state of Nevada
- It became a city in 1911
- "The Strip" is Las Vegas Boulevard where most of the casinos are
- "The Strip" runs north to south roughly
- Las Vegas is in the middle of the Mojave Desert
- Las Vegas has become much more family oriented in the last decade
- It is always cheaper to stay in Vegas during the week
- The summers are hot and the winters cool, although typically no snow
- Tourism and gambling make up most of the industry in Las Vegas
- The downtown or old Las Vegas is now called Fremont Street
- There are no major league sports teams in Las Vegas
- The population continues to grow in Las Vegas
