Being a manager is a full time job, where you are managing your resources and not so much doing individual tasks. To effectively manage your staff, utilize a few of the basics.


  1. Set clear expectations of employees in their jobs
  2. Manage employees day to day so you can see progress
  3. Support your staff in their decisions
  4. Encourage employees to take ownership of their jobs
  5. Build mini teams to work on projects
  6. Give constant feedback, both good and bad
  7. Keep a list of who is working on what, and what the next action steps are
  8. Give employees rewards for working hard
  9. Allow employees to manage their time in a way that works best for them
  10. Encourage creativity
  11. Be approachable
