CAREER: Phone interviews checklist





Being interviewed over the phone is a common step in the recruitment process. It gives employers a way to further screen potential candidates.


  1. Keep your resume in front of you for easy reference
  2. Have a list of accomplishments ready
  3. Prepare answers to common interview questions
  4. Take the call in a quiet location where you won't be disturbed
  5. Have a pen handy to take notes
  6. Use a land line when possible instead of a cell phone
  7. Practice interviewing in advance
  8. Speak slowly and pronounce words clearly
  9. Give short answers
  10. Remember your goal is to get a face to face interview
