CAREER: Job Interviews checklist

Going to a job interview can be both exciting and nerve racking. Now is your time to shine and make a positive impact on your prospective employer. Utilize the following tips to give you the edge over all of the other candidates.


  1. Research the company before going to the interview
  2. Prepare and practice answers to common interview questions
  3. Dress slightly nicer than the typical dress code of the business
  4. Smile and be polite
  5. Maintain good eye contact
  6. Answer questions honestly and do not exaggerate
  7. Tell a story of how you helped a company become more efficient through your position
  8. Bring up an interesting fact about the company to show interest
  9. Be prepared to ask 2 or 3 questions about the company and open position
  10. Express your direct interest in the position
  11. Ask if there is anything unclear the interviewer would like to address
  12. Leave with a handshake and thank them for their time
  13. Follow up with a thank you letter within 2 days
